Prof. Aline Regina Alves Martins 

 

Aline Regina Alves Martins is an Assistant Professor of the undergraduate program in International Relations and of the graduate program in Political Science at the Federal University of Goiás. She holds a PhD degree in Political Science from the State University of Campinas and she has been visiting student at the Balsillie School of International Affairs of the University of Waterloo (Canada). Between 2010 and 2012, she was research assistant of the Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA). Her research focuses on International Political Economy, especially the international contemporary monetary and financial system. She edited the book “As transformações no sistema monetário internacional” [The transformations of the international monetary system], with Marcos Antonio Macedo Cintra. Prof. Martins is chief-editor of "Sociedade e Cultura", journal of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Federal University of Goiás.

Prof. Carlo Patti
Carlo Patti is Assistant Professor in International Relations at the Federal University of Goiás (Brazil).
 
He received his Ph. D. in History of International Relations from the University of Florence in 2012. Between 2012 and 2013, he has been post-doctoral fellow at the Getulio Vargas Foundation. Between 2013 and 2014, he has been post-doctoral fellow at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. His research focuses on Brazil’s foreign policy, Brazil’s nuclear history, international history, nuclear diplomacy, and international security. In 2015, he has been awarded a British Academy Newton Advanced Fellowship for a two-year research project he co-leads with Benoît Pelopidas (University of Bristol) on "Global Nuclear Vulnerability: the effects of the Cuban Missile Crisis on British, French and Brazilian nuclear policies."
 

He published "O programa nuclear brasileiro: uma história oral (CPDOC-FGV, 2014)" as well as articles in Revista Brasileira de Política Internacional, International History Review, Cold War History, Il Politico, Limes, and Meridiano 47. Currently, he is turning his doctoral thesis “Brazil in the Global Nuclear Order (1945-2010)” into a book.

Prof. Diego Trindade d'Ávila Magalhães

Diego Trindade d'Ávila Magalhães is Assistant Professor of International Relations at the Federal University of Goias (UFG), where he teaches Theory of International Relations, Methodology and International Cooperation. He received his Ph.D. in International Strategic Studies from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and his BA and MA in International Relations from the University of Brasilia (UnB). His research interests currently comprise emerging countries, globalization, Theory of International Relations and integration and security in South America.

Prof. João Henrique Ribeiro Roriz

João Henrique Ribeiro Roriz is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Federal University of Goiás (Brazil). He received his PhD (2013) from the University of São Paulo and his LL.M. (2007) from the London School of Economics. His research interests include international law, human rights and critical theory. He has been post-doctoral research fellow at the Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR) of the University of Oxford.

At DPIR, João Roriz worked on human rights in Brazilian foreign policy. The research deals with the rights language being instrumentalized by Brazilian state organs and institutions to solidify and legitimate the transition regime in Brazil during the 1980s. He is analysing confidential documents from the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to trace the process and the decisions regarding human rights at the end of the military regime and during the transitional context.

Prof. Laís Forti Thomaz 

Laís Forti Thomaz is currently a Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Brasilia (2021-2022). She is also an Assistant Professor at Federal University of Goiás (UFG), former Coordinator of the Nucleus of Global Studies (NEG) and a Politizar Program Coordinator. Politizar is a civic educational program where she manages 13 interns in 7 different projects. She is also a Founder and the Public Affairs Coordinator of the Sergio Vieira de Mello UNHCR Academic Chair at the UFG. She has been an Advanced Biofuels USA Board Member since 2017. Dr. Thomaz received her PhD and M.A degrees in International Relations and developed her first Postdoctoral researcher at San Tiago Dantas Graduate Program supported by Unesp, Unicamp and PUC-SP. Her PhD dissertation focuses on the role of advocacy groups in the shaping of ethanol trade policies. She started her studies about the ethanol policies during her undergraduate course as a younger scholar. She was a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Government at Georgetown University (2014/2015). She has a vast scholarship recipient record: Ibero-American Santander Universities Grant Program - 2008; Brazilian Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) - 2010-2011/2016; Sao Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) 2009 / 2012-2016 and Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) 2017-2018; FAP-DF Team Project Grant - 2019-Present. She has also attended the Public Affairs and Advocacy Institute (PAAI) and European Public Affairs and Advocacy Institute (EPAAI) promoted by American University. She is also the Scholar Winner at the 2015 National Ethanol Conference Award promoted by Renewable Fuels Assn and Renewable Fuels Foundation. In 2011, her research was the winner of the Top Ethanol Award promoted by the Brazilian Sugarcane Ethanol Industry Assn. Editora Unesp published her Master thesis as a book. Since 2009 she has been a researcher at National Institute of Science and Technology for Studies on the United States (INCT-INEU) and a member of the Brazilian Network of Biokerosene and Renewable Hydrocarbons for Aviation (RBQAV) . She was a research intern at the Americas Program at Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, DC in 2015. Dr. Thomaz was part of the Brazilian Private Sector Delegation in its Advocacy Mission in Washington DC in 2017 and she was part of the UFG Mission to China in order to create a Confucius Institute at the University.

Prof. Matheus Hoffmann Pfrimer

Matheus Hoffmann Pfrimer holds a PhD (2009) in Political Geography from the University of São Paulo, having also concluded a post-doctoral fellowship (2013) in the same program. Has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in International Relations at the Pontifical Catholic University of Goiás (PUC-GO), from 2011 and 2014. Served, for 4 years, as an official member of the International Political Science Association`s Research Committee 15, which is responsible for the areas of Political Geography and Culture. Furthermore, is one of the founders of the South American Geopolitics research subgroup "Espacio ALACIP" held by Latin American Political Science Association (ALACIP). Is an associate professor of the undergraduate program in International Relations since 2014. His research interests focus on Environmental Security, Geopolitics and South American Regional Integration, with an emphasis on the relationship between natural resources and conflict. In 2006, 2011 and 2012 conducted fieldwork in Bolivia in order to assess the effects of the South American regional integration over the natural resources of the Andean country. This research was funded with a grant from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). Presently, he holds a position in the editorial board of the following journals: Ateliê GeográficoBoletim Goiano de Geografia and Caderno Territorial.
